Schedules

For many nurses, the schedule matters more than the job title. This category collects remote roles and guides by working pattern: part-time, PRN and per diem, weekend-only, night shift, contract and 1099 work, full-time roles, and entry-level paths for nurses moving away from the bedside for the first time. Each guide is direct about the trade-offs. Part-time and PRN remote roles exist, but they are fewer than full-time roles and often go to nurses with prior remote or specialty experience. Night and weekend roles pay differentials at some employers and are easier to get, because fewer nurses want them. Contract work can pay more per hour but usually carries no benefits and no paid time off, and 1099 roles make you responsible for your own taxes. The guides spell this out per schedule type instead of glossing over it. You will also find what employers expect for each pattern: minimum hours, rotating weekends, holiday cover, and response-time rules for on-call triage work. If you need a specific pattern for family or health reasons, start here, then check the matching specialty guide to see which roles most often offer it.
